Day 7: Going home...

The drive back to Mishawaka was pretty uneventful. The rain started when we were about an hour from home, and continued throughout the evening. We made one final stop in Elkhart (of unemployment rate fame) for Cracker Barrel...yum!

And that's it--the unexciting culminating post of my spring break roadtrip. I've now been to all 48 lower states (and 1 country outside the US). At this point, plans have changed a bit, and I won't be making it to all 50 states before I turn 25...but I should make it during my 25th year.

Hershey, PA (Day 6)

Delaware sign.

After we left NYC, we took the Jersey Turnpike to Delware. Much celebration commenced as I have now been to all 48 lower states! I realized only at this point that rather serendipitously, the first state of the United States had become my last new state on this journey, and in general for the contiguous.

New York x2. (Days 4 and 5)

Driving into New York City was absolutely terrifying...and I wasn't the one driving (remember, that 24 thing?) We couldn't get the car in anywhere near Joey's apartment, so we parked 25 blocks away (or maybe that is close in NYC? ha.) near Columbia University. Joey met us at the parking garage and we hoofed the 25 blocks uphill to his apartment (I don't think either of the boys liked that idea, but walking a city is the best way for me to get my bearings.)

Day 3: Maine!

The drive was much shorter today. But before we got on the road, we had one last hoo-rah with Nathan. The three of us traipsed down to Lou's (just off the Dartmouth campus) for breakfast...it was quite tasty.

Day 2: On the Road Again – VT/NH

We left Ontario this morning around 8 am. There was absolutely no traffic at the border crossing and the U.S. guard was a douche (he wouldn’t stamp my passport!).

The drive across New York was reeeeally long…and made worse by the 65 mph speed limit. We’ve just crossed into Vermont as I’m writing. I really wish I had paid more attention in undergrad geology when we studied glacial features so that I would be able to impress Brandon with my knowledge of the area—I’ll continue faking it.

Day 1: Canada! (…and Niagara Falls)

Continuing my quest to visit all 50 states before I turn 25, Brandon and I set out for the long awaited “Northeast Roadtrip” this morning. The trip will cover around 2, 100 miles and will last 7 days. I’ll try to update frequently…
