A Meal That Lasts, A Feeling That Lingers

To say that I enjoy food is a bit of an understatement. I'm not snotty about it, I'm not pretentious, but anyone in my research group could tell you that I've already been to that new restaurant, and chances are, I'd be happy to go again.

Mindful Eating as Way to Fight Bingeing - NYTimes.com

Problem is, I already eat incredibly slow and enjoy every second of it, so much so that I eat it all.

#Losing

In February, I'm going to lose 5 lbs. That's it. Just 5 lbs. I have no grand plans of being healthy and getting skinny in February, just 5 damn lbs.

There's a pretty good chance that I'm not going to make the time to go to the gym regularly this month. So, how am I going to do this you ask? Hopefully a few small behavioral changes will do the trick.

Rather than park as close as possible to my building, I'm parking in BFE near the stadium this month. I'm also not driving to class. I'm walking…all the way to the complete opposite side of campus.

Hungry Memphis | Memphis Flyer

Dear Hungry Memphis:

That BBQ sandwich in your blog banner is not a welcome sight at 11:12 AM when I live in a place where I have no chance--NO CHANCE--of procuring anything near that delicious looking for lunch.

Please don't let this happen again.

Love and stuff,

Jess

January - What's for Dinner?

In January, the South Bend Foodies headed to Eddie's Steak Shed in Granger, IN, for their monthly eat-up. We started with buffalo wings, GIANT fried mushrooms, and some sort of flaming cheese appetizers on the house. I have srsly never seen a fried mushroom so large, and after a while, I started eating the flaming cheese thing (I can't find it on their online menu) without bread...just cheese...in my hand...to my mouth. Yum!

Out to Lunch - Main St. Grille

As I've mentioned before, one of my favorite newish places in Mishawaka is Main St. Grille. It's open for lunch and dinner, the menu is fresh and innovative, and the atmosphere is a little more upscale than what is standard in these parts. The last time Brandon and I stopped by, I had their lunch special: Asian-inspired shrimp tacos. I really enjoyed the simplicity of glazed shrimp with wasabi and shredded cabbage on a flour tortilla, but the sweet glaze eventually proved too much for me.

December - What's for Dinner?

In December, Brandon and I joined South Bend Foodies for their monthly What's for Dinner? gathering at Tippecanoe Place in South Bend, a restaurant in the former Studebaker mansion. We were treated to a 5-course meal (photos below) and the chance to meet new people who share our love for good food...even in the Midwest.

CITY HOUSE Nashville |

I had a chance to visit City House during my last trip to Nashville. I highly recommend it--the Bandit, belly ham pizza, ARUGULA!
